About This Video

There’s a special place in hell for whoever created LeetCode… but I’ll still tell you straight: nothing has improved my problem-solving and programming skills more than getting good at LeetCode. You can be a great engineer without it, but if you want access to the best-paying jobs in tech, it’s a game you’ve got to play to pass technical interviews. In this video I break down my own LeetCode journey—from getting humbled trying an “easy” four months into coding, to now being able to solve mediums and hards—and I give you a beginner roadmap that actually works. I start with the non-negotiable prerequisite: data structures and algorithms. Then I give you a simple day-one test: pick Arrays → Easy → highest acceptance rate, and see how you do. If you struggle, I recommend using Codewars as a gateway to build the logical problem-solving muscle before coming back to LeetCode. After that, I lay down my rules: don’t hop around randomly, focus on patterns until they “click,” don’t waste an hour stuck (peek at solutions after ~20–30 minutes), and move toward mediums for the best ROI. Finally, I explain the “long way” (15–20 problems per pattern until you get it) versus the “short way” (Blind 75 + platforms like NeetCode) depending on your time and confidence.
