Wisconsin Dells is famous for water parks (hello, “waterpark capital of the world”), but in this video I’m focusing on the part a lot of families miss: the natural beauty. Think cliffs, gorges, and the Wisconsin River—boat tours are one of the best ways to see it all. Since it can be hard to figure out which tour is actually worth your hard-earned money, my family tested two of the most popular options with four kids in tow (ages 1–8): the Upper Dells Boat Tour and the Wisconsin Dells Duck Boat Tour. I break down the real-life details that matter when you’re planning with kids—price, how long each tour takes, and how kid-friendly each one felt for our crew. Both tours cost the same, but the experience is totally different: the Upper Dells is a 2-hour tour with two shore landings (including Witches Gulch, which was honestly other-worldly), while the Duck Boat is a 1-hour amphibious ride that mixes land and water and leans more entertaining. If I had to pick just one to do again, I’d choose the Upper Dells because Witches Gulch was so beautiful—and I’m still hoping to catch the dog jump at Stand Rock next time (weather didn’t cooperate for us!).
