I took my son to LEGOLAND California for his 6th birthday and turned it into a full week-long Southern California family trip with stops in San Diego and Palm Springs. In this video, I walk you through exactly where we stayed, what we did each day, and the little “mom details” that make traveling with kids (and a toddler!) so much easier—so you can recreate this itinerary with your own family. We stayed on-property at the LEGOLAND Castle Hotel (we picked the Knights & Dragons room), and I share why it’s so kid-focused—like the scavenger hunt safe, LEGO play everywhere, and the buffet breakfast with play areas. Then we mixed in springtime stops like the Carlsbad Flower Fields, plus a real-life lesson learned at Torrey Pines (there’s a small parking lot at the trailhead… and yes, I carried my toddler uphill). From there, I show our home base at the Hyatt Regency La Jolla, our San Diego day with the Zoo and Balboa Park, and why the USS Midway Museum surprised me as one of the most kid-friendly highlights. We wrapped with sea lions in La Jolla, Birch Aquarium, then headed to Palm Springs for the Aerial Tram, an easy family hike in Indian Canyons, and a quick stop at the Cabazon dinosaurs on the way back to LAX.
