Hi everyone, it’s Amanda, and in this journal & yap video I’m setting up my August spreads with a theme that’s basically: pure texture, pure scraps, pure “trust the process.” I started by showing the true reality of my desk after filming (aka: girl mess—don’t trust Instagram), then jumped into a cover page made from upcycled patterned papers I’d been collecting for months. Instead of gluing in full sheets, I cut everything into strips and wove them together like a little picnic basket weave, which sounds chaotic… because it kind of is at first. But once it clicks, it’s weirdly therapeutic and ends up looking so unique in person. I walk you through how I did the weaving (centimeter-wide strips, over-under weaving, alternating each row, then gluing just the ends). After that, I keep the actual planning simple so the background can shine: a minimal calendar with star-punched numbers, plus scattered stars for decoration. I also pre-make a Japan trip photo memory spread (because I love journaling at cafés while traveling, and I never have all my supplies with me), and I finish with a simple weekly layout featuring a smaller woven patch and a quote that sums up the whole vibe: life is all the small moments woven together. Reduce, reuse, recycle—then turn it into a spread.
