I just spent $150 to create a live, real-time AI version of myself—and it’s one of those moments where you can feel the future arriving. In this video I show you what these realtime avatars can actually do: talk, think, respond, and adapt on your behalf with sub–half-second latency, to the point where it feels like a normal Zoom call. I demo conversations with my own clone, and I break down why this isn’t “just another chatbot.” When you combine a trusted identity with an LLM that can strategize and adjust in real time, you get something that can persuade, rebuild trust, and potentially manipulate people at scale. I also go into the darker side: emotional attachment risks, impersonation, and scam scenarios where people could automate dating/video calls to extract money—especially once this tech spreads into uncensored deployments. Then I pivot into the opportunity: interactive AI influencers, education/testing environments, interview agents (one company is saving 27 hours per hire), language learning, and practicing soft skills like negotiation or dating. Finally, I walk you through how I built my avatar with HeyGen’s realtime avatar workflow: the exact footage structure, how I trained personality/context (persona, knowledge, instructions), and the current limitations—cost, credits, and slightly wooden voices/movements—while being very clear this is only going to get cheaper and more realistic.
