Most photographers will tell you that 35mm is the perfect storytelling lens. I used to think the same thing. But over the years, one focal length quietly became one of the most important lenses in my bag. The 28mm. In this video, I share why I believe 28mm is one of the most underrated and powerful lenses you can own. It is not trendy. It does not rely on crazy shallow depth of field. And it definitely does not let you be lazy. Shooting 28mm forces you to slow down and really see your frame. You have to pay attention to your edges, your background, your spacing, and your subject placement. It pushes you to think about storytelling instead of just blur. I talk about how I use it for weddings, street photography, and even portraits. It creates images that feel immersive and cinematic without screaming wide angle. You feel like you are inside the moment instead of observing it from far away. I also touch on one practical reason that makes this lens even more appealing. If you have been defaulting to 35mm, 50mm, or 85mm, this might be the sign to try something different. The 28mm will not do the work for you. But if you are willing to get closer and shoot with intention, it might completely change how you see. New to Aftershoot?
