About This Video

This is the first college video of my junior year (filmed at literally 1–2am in my basement spare bedroom, so yes, I’m a little delusional), and I wanted it to feel more like a conversation than a scripted “here’s my advice” list. I’m halfway through college now, and after getting DMs from girls about the more personal stuff—friendships, relationships, faith, and identity—I wanted to share what I’ve learned from my own experience and from watching my friends go through it too. I talk a lot about friendships first, because college friendships change constantly and it can be scary when you go in with huge expectations. Making friends can feel like a full-time job, and you have to show up to the awkward freshman events and put yourself in intimidating situations (like I did with dance and sorority recruitment). I also learned you don’t need to be “everything friends” with everyone—different friends can fit different parts of your life, and it’s healthy to diversify your circles. Then I get into relationships and faith. I’m big on not neglecting your female friendships when a guy comes along, and I truly believe the right relationship won’t pull you away from your goals or your standards. And as a Catholic, I share how college (and even studying abroad) forced me to choose my faith for myself—prioritizing what I believe over what people think, while also finding community that builds me back up.
