About This Video

Greetings worldwide, it’s the voice of your one and only Z the messenger, Malawi Africa we representing—keeping the reggae authentic as it’s supposed to be. In this video I’m sharing some special news: my Zion The Messenger Reggae Drumkit, customized for FL Studio users. I break down what’s inside the kit—kick, hi-hats, rimshot (with two velocity flavors), snare (multi-velocity), timbale, dead/vintage-style toms, plus splash and cymbals—then I play a simple drum row so you can hear the raw vibe before anything is touched. After that, I show you my full processing approach without over-processing, because reggae have to sound pure and real. I walk through the before/after on each drum: EQ, gain staging, transient shaping (especially to control release on hats), a touch of reverb, and overall polish. Then I route everything to a drum group (I love the grouping method) for bus treatment—upward compression, a bit of saturation, compression, and limiting to keep the drums in the pocket. I also send key pieces to a spring reverb using Fruity Send, because the spring gives me that vintage, same-room authentic feeling. Finally, I demo the kit on one drop (I’m a big fan), rockers, and steppers, and I explain the $20 package: you get the customized pack plus the FLP and my processing so you can drop professional reggae drums straight into your session.
