In this video I’m sharing my reggae/dancehall message through my song “UTHENGA.” From the hook—“Rise man ah rise, fight man ah fight… ponya maso ako patsogolo”—I’m pushing that mindset of standing up, keeping your eyes forward, and not listening to the voices that pull you back. I say it straight: “The message is clear,” when we commit ourselves to righteous labor and positive intent, we avoid harmful paths and we build stronger communities. That’s the heartbeat of reggae for me—music that educates, uplifts, and calls for moral awareness. Lyrically I’m talking about work, sweat, and consistency—“phindu lichoka mthukuta”—because blessings don’t come from shortcuts. I also touch real-life pressure: discouragement, poverty, betrayal, and the chaos that can come even from people close to you. But I balance it with wisdom: don’t carry tomorrow’s worries, don’t fold when today is hard, and remember “mutu modzi suzenza denga”—we rise better together. “UTHENGA” is my reminder to keep fighting clean, keep moving forward, and let the community win.
