The Game https://jobruce.itch.io/the-legend-of-gerber Game Trailer https://youtu.be/-BoGq0T3zX0 I made my first retro video game as a Christmas gift for my brother, and this project turned into a full-blown creative skill journey. Using a visual game builder, I built my first game in GB Studio and created every in-game asset myself (excluding the music). After 2–3 months of story-driven development, I took things even further by producing a physical copy of the game on a real cartridge to play on original hardware! The game, The Legend of Gerber: Journey to the Edge of the Earth, is a short 15–30 minute adventure that blends platforming, RPG elements, point-and-click exploration, and turn-based mechanics. It’s layered with inside family jokes, creative limitations, and retro charm, making it fun for anyone who plays—but even better if you know us. This video covers the entire process of making my first Game Boy Color game, troubleshooting creative limits, and turning a homemade ROM into a physical product old old-school gamers would recognize instantly. If you love retro gaming, pixel art, creative constraints, or game design—this one’s for you.
