In this video I’m cruising around Ocala, Florida on October 1st to check out what the Halloween yard display scene looks like early in the season. This is basically a progress tour—what’s already up, what’s still half-built, and which houses are clearly putting in the work. Ocala isn’t completely packed with displays yet, but the ones that are out are strong and honestly pretty impressive for being this early. My main takeaway is that early October is a weird sweet spot: you can spot the serious setups starting to take shape, but a lot of the better decorations are still “in progress.” I call out that there aren’t a ton of yards fully dialed in yet, but quality beats quantity here. I’m also planning to swing back this weekend to see what else pops up once more people finish building and plugging everything in.
