In this episode, I’m basically asking the question everyone’s yelling about: what do you think about Leagues… when it’s not even OSRS Leagues? Jagex dropped the curveball—no Old School League this year, and instead we’re getting an RS3 League with almost no runway. So Oxie and I do what we do best: talk it out, roast ourselves a little, and try to get ahead of the “copycat leagues / knockoff leagues” energy before it turns into pointless doomposting. My main angle is simple: if you’re an OSRS player who’s allergic to RS3 because of microtransactions, Leagues being Ironman-style could be the one format where that entire problem gets removed. No Treasure Hunter keys, no pay-to-win weirdness—just number-go-up gameplay and tasks pushing you into parts of the game you’d never touch otherwise. Michael comes in as the optimist and makes the case that Leagues is literally built to teach you a game through task lists and forced interaction, and that could actually make RS3 feel playable (even if we don’t know enough to “theorycraft” it like we do for OSRS). The takeaway: you don’t have to marry RS3—just try the League, have fun, and stop being pedantic about the name.
