This week on XP Waste, we did the thing we always swear we’re not doing: we pivoted off OSRS and jumped headfirst into RS3’s first-ever League. We brought in serious backup—Ryan, aka The RS Guy—because if we’re going to talk RS3 Leagues, I want someone who actually lives there. We kicked it off with the obvious question: has he played OSRS (yes, at launch), and how close we all are to our own League goals (Michael… did not get the fire cape, and I was recovering from a vasectomy in a papasan chair instead of grinding like I promised). From there we got into what RS3 Leagues actually feels like from both sides: RS Guy’s take as a veteran pushing tier 7 (on two accounts, including a “pick the worst relics” cursed build), and my take as an OSRS player who’s basically clueless but having a good time. The big takeaway is that RS3’s relics feel way more underpowered than OSRS Leagues, and a lot of choices are either obvious or weirdly niche. But at the same time, I’ll say it: this League is genuinely a great on-ramp for OSRS players—full world access, fast progression, and a low-stakes way to learn RS3’s systems, QoL, and combat without getting region-locked into decisions you don’t understand yet.
