Welcome back to XP Waste—this week I’m basically running on fumes (Michael is literally hanging on by a thread), but Jagex decided to drop another Summer Sweep blog and it’s the exact kind of “why was this ever a problem?” QoL that gets me irrationally excited. We dig into the Slayer & Misc changes, and I’ll be honest: a lot of it feels almost too good to be true. Not because it’s bad—because it’s the kind of stuff I’m used to Jagex being weirdly hesitant about. The headline for me is the Slayer block list overhaul: separate block lists per Slayer master. That’s huge for anyone who does Turael skipping, Konar for Hydra hunting, or Wilderness Slayer without wanting to ruin their normal Duradel setup. On top of that, the point costs are getting scaled by master (Turael starts cheaper, Duradel/Kuradel/Crystilia are the top end), and a bunch of unlocks are getting price cuts—like Slayer rings going from “I’m never buying that” to “fine, I’ll take it.” We also talk about why some QoL changes shouldn’t even be polled, how this will change the “feel” of Slayer, and I even end up theorycrafting Wilderness blocks around boss tasks and Revs. Community question: what does your ideal blocklist look like?
