Seeds need to be kept cool. Avoid storing seeds in locations with fluctuating temperatures, just because you are keeping them in the basement or in a cupboard doesn’t mean that the temperature is consistent year round. Remember seeds by their very nature take a very long term view of temperature, it if the temperature is slowly shifting one way or the other, it might send them the wrong signal. This is also true of moisture seeds are hyper sensitive to the slightest changes in humidity. Contact with air is also harmful to your seeds, and will definitely shorten their lifespans. At the end of this list is light. Because obviously if you have been able to avoid all of the previous risks I just mentioned. Your seeds are being kept in a dark place and that’s what you want.
