Keeps it clean, no crusty bits, and it will stay just like knew with that beautiful cover and shine. The old days the Lye in soap was the issue, that is why it is widely used to soak cast iron in a lye bath. Every heard of soaking cast iron in a dish soap bath? After a good scrub with dish soap, rinse thoroughly, dry it off very well. Wipe in your favorite oil, wipe off the oil just like you would prior to seasoning a cast iron skillet. Your family and friends will be impressed with your collection of cast iron.
