For the past year I’ve been painting out of a shared communal basement workshop, and I’m genuinely grateful for it—Croman is kind of legendary, packed with absurd amounts of talent, and it’s where I learned how to paint and met close friends. But once I went full-time, I started needing something more focused: a space where I can fully control how I work, keep my schedule consistent, and actually build a professional routine instead of bouncing between hyper-productive days and total crash days. In this video I’m moving into what’s basically my dream miniature painting studio: bright, quiet, close to home, and with fresh air and daylight. I walk through the layout and why it matters—especially the “recovery corner” I carved out to fight burnout (soft chair, carpet, warm light) so I can reset between long, focused sessions. I also break down the practical side: secondhand furniture to keep costs down and be a bit more sustainable, a dedicated storage/display setup, and my filming workflow (Canon R50 main cam, M50 as a palette cam, shooting 4K and editing 1080p for cropping/detail). I also set up a second workstation for students/guests if you want to paint with me or book coaching.
