In this video I’m taking a close look at the Kaweco Sport Piston in Navy—basically Kaweco doing a “Sport,” but trying to make it feel more upscale with a built-in piston filler. I go over the overall design, what you’re actually getting for the money, and why it’s genuinely nice to see Kaweco push the Sport line in a more premium direction. If you’ve ever wanted a Sport that feels a little more “serious” than a cartridge/converter setup, this is the idea on paper. But I also get into the part that matters: how the piston mechanism is executed, and specifically my critique of the piston knob. I’m not just nitpicking for fun—if the knob design affects usability, grip, or the overall feel of the pen, that’s worth calling out (especially for how people actually handle these pens day-to-day). I leave it open to you to weigh in too: am I being harsh, or is the piston knob critique totally fair?
