Obsidian Smart Connections UPDATE 📝 Rediscover Notes With Obsidian AI

Hi Friends, my name is Callum aka wanderloots. In today's video, I walk through the updated Smart Connections Obsidian Plugin ✨ The update includes improved Connections, Smart Chat & Smart Blocks. I also give a brief tutorial on the technology behind the tools so you can understand what's happening behind the scenes. The Smart Connections Plugin is a free & private AI tool operates locally within Obsidian, with various features that leverage your existing note-taking through a local embeddings model. That means your data never leaves your computer. Smart Connections brings in "Semantic Searching" which is FAR more powerful than classic keyword searches. Smart Connections & Smart Chat are both powered by the Smart Environment, a data layer that automatically updates as you make changes in your vault. This data layer keeps the context of your vault fresh and personalizes your interactions with the AI. In this video, I walk through how to get started with Smart Connections & Smart Chat, how to run a local model (Ollama & LM Studio), AND give a tutorial on how this technology works so you can understand how it all works (LLMs, embedding models, RAG, vector databases, & more). I use Smart Connections all the time to help me with my research and writing, surfacing insights and rediscovering notes I had forgotten about. With Smart Connections, a huge vault of thousands of notes isn't a burden, but is instead a repository of valuable context & insights, surfaced effortlessly.
