In this video I share how we approach wild camping and bivouac after more than 6 years of hiking and sleeping out in the mountains. I talk honestly about the problems people don’t always mention—misconceptions, fear, and the “controversial info” you’ll read online—plus the real-life situations that can get you into trouble if you choose the wrong spot or handle a situation the wrong way. We compare our experiences in the wild versus staying in campgrounds, and I explain why both can be useful depending on the route, the rules, and your comfort level. I also go through stealth camping tips that helped us a lot when we were beginners: what kinds of places I personally avoid, how I try to keep things low-impact and low-visibility, and how I navigate awkward moments when you meet people or feel like your spot isn’t right. If you’re just starting out, this video is meant to make wild camping feel less scary and more practical.
