Is it really a good idea to buy a China-direct mountain bike frame? Maybe. Check out this AliExpress full suspension bike. I've done this twice and have had good luck but there are things you should keep in mind like, is it better to buy a complete or just a frame? Depends really. If you have a bunch of parts around you can reuse - going the frame route can make better sense. Now let's take a look at my build here. Large Himalo Boost frame: https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_Dd3aj5l 27.5 Stan's Flow wheels Front suspension handled by a Rockshox Yari. (from previous build) Rear uses a Marzocchi Bomber Air. I have a SRAM NX/GX drivetrain. Cassette is from previous build. Shimano XT brakes (from previous build) There's my Goldix 165mm crankset. (from previous build) Crankbros eggbeater pedals (from previous build): https://amzn.to/3yiZQhw Wolftooth Geoshift headset: https://amzn.to/3Yr4q7T Funn stem: https://amzn.to/4fsCMh6 Trail1 Bars (from previous build): https://amzn.to/4cfjYz6 PNW Loam dropper: https://amzn.to/3LNdLiX Ergon SM Pro (from previous build): https://amzn.to/3SzQrsH All in what did this cost? $1200 including frame and Bomber Air. The rest of the parts were from a previous build - already owned, a sunk cost. You see that's what really makes buying a frame like this worth it - you've already spent the money on reusable components.
