Recorded 6/11/2022 at Home Entertainment Show in Long Beach California: Kevin Gray is a mastering engineer, notable for mastering more than 100 top-ten albums, including works by artists such as The Grateful Dead, Billy Joel, and The Who. He has also worked on albums by the Beach Boys and Joan Baez. Gray also worked on more than 300 Blue Note jazz records and has spent many hours working in the Rudy Van Gelder Studios with RVGs original analog tapes. Gray launched his own mastering house called Cohearent Audio, LLC, in 2010. In September 2021 Blue Note announced the continuation of the Classic Vinyl Reissue Series, which presents affordable 180g jazz vinyl reissues in standard packaging that are mastered by Kevin Gray and manufactured at Optimal. The pressings are all-analog whenever an analog source is available, with Gray mastering directly from the original master tapes. Gray is interviewed here by Mitch Anderson of ecoustics.com and the founder of the Black Circle Radio podcast. Thanks to The Home Entertainment Show for granting Vinyl Rundown press credentials for this event. #vinylrecords #recordingengineer #hifi #audiophile
