About This Video

In this debut episode of Chasing Better Sound, I’m linking up with David Bianco from Safe & Sound Texas Audio Excursion (and yes, we’ve got Chance hanging around after-hours making bad jokes) to kick off a new series for music lovers who want better sound without getting lost in hype. The whole point is simple: we all want to hear our favorite music in the best possible way—no matter the room, the system, or the budget—and we’re going to build this plane as we fly it. We start by trading origin stories—how David got into records and hi-fi super early (radio, 45s, then albums, DIY kits, and chasing better gear over decades), and how my path bounced through vinyl, cassettes, CDs, ripping everything to a computer, internet radio, and then finally coming back hard to vinyl after getting fed up with streaming (tracks grayed out, versions changing, that whole “nothing is really yours” feeling). The big takeaway I want people to hear is that “better sound” isn’t just gear—it’s learning what you actually like, understanding the terms, and making smart changes that move the needle in the real world.
