Inside of this video, I’m unboxing and testing the newest Dell XPS—specifically the XPS 14—and yeah… Dell changed up a lot. The packaging is wild, the whole laptop is CNC machined aluminum, and it’s crazy thin for a 14-inch. You get a super minimal design with Thunderbolt 4 ports on both sides, and when you open it up the first thing you notice is those insane bezels. It’s basically the footprint of a 13-inch laptop, but you’re getting a full 14-inch display. The big star here is the screen: a 2.8K tandem OLED with variable refresh rate from 20Hz up to 120Hz. OLED usually takes a hit on brightness, but tandem OLED helps a ton, and watching content on it looked amazing—deep, inky blacks and super vibrant colors. Dell also brought back a dedicated function row (thank you), and the all-glass haptic trackpad is seamless with etched edges so you can actually tell where it starts and ends. I also tested the speakers even though there’s no visible speaker grill, and they honestly sounded really good for how thin this thing is. Performance-wise, my unit had Intel’s Core Ultra X7 with Arc integrated graphics, and I was genuinely surprised—AAA gaming was actually playable around the 30fps range on pretty high settings (fans definitely kicked up though). Dell’s also claiming up to around 25 hours of battery life with a 70Wh battery using newer, more compact cell tech, so I’m super interested in putting that through more real-world testing.
