YOU CAN SAVE PLUGIN EFFECTS WITHOUT BUYING THE PLUGIN

In this video I show you how to save a cool effect from a plugin on your instrument that you didn't purchase. If you don't have the money but like the effect, then try this tip.

About This Video

In this video I’m showing you a quick workaround in FL Studio for when you find a dope plugin effect you like, but you can’t save your project because you didn’t actually buy the plugin. I’m using Gross Beat as the example—mine is in trial mode, so FL Studio throws that “trial version… will be locked next time you try to open a project” message when I try to save. And look, I could buy it, but I’m not trying to drop an extra $69 for one plugin in this situation, even though I do love it. So what I do instead is record the processed sound and turn it into an audio file using Edison. I solo the instrument, load Edison on an insert, arm it, and play the part so Edison records the exact sound with the effect chain (EQ, doubler, reverb, and the Gross Beat preset). Then I trim it tight, “Save sample as,” and drag that WAV back into the project as an audio clip. The big thing to remember is this is destructive—once you print it, you can’t go back and tweak the plugin settings—so get it sounding how you want before you record it. This works with pretty much any plugin as long as it doesn’t add crazy static/timeouts during recording.
