While I'm not a woodworker, I did need to fill a gap between my couches, after seeing expensive side tables on wayfair and amazon that weren't quite wide enough or modern enough i thought how hard can it be. So i bought some knotty pine boards that i used as wall slats across my house and did it under 3 hours. I used the same varathane DARK WALNUT stain as i did on the slat walls. The wood i bought from home depot for $70 bucks. All in all it fits perfect and I will be adding another shelf and then finishing the top with wax for smoother finish.
