Right here in my living room, I took a plain wall and changed the whole thing up into a modern feature wall with big-format tile, a custom built-in niche, and LED lighting channels that make it look way more high-end than it should for the money. Before I even touched the wall, I planned it out the way I always do—mockups in Photoshop (and yes, AI tools help a lot now) so I’m not guessing once I start cutting. Then I laid out the niche with tape, figured out tile orientation with a dry fit, and started tiling in a way that keeps the mess down and the results clean. I show my small-project wall tiling method using PL Premium (fast, strong, but not the cheap way), tile leveling clips, and a couple “fighting gravity” hacks like a temporary brace screwed into studs and a screw/washer trick to stop tiles from bowing when you tighten clips. When it came time to cut the niche, I dealt with real-world stuff—outside wall insulation, electrical I had to re-route, and keeping the wall sealed up with gap filler. Then I built the slat/LED look using pine slats, snap-in channels, COB LED strips (super bright, continuous light), and hidden wire routing so it looks like nothing ever happened. End result: a crazy clean tile install, a niche with storage/power, and lighting you can run by remote, app, Google Home, or Alexa—without paying contractors tens of thousands.
