This Dog's Nose Changed Many Lives

Patron is a Jack Russell Terrier working with the State Emergency Service rescuers in Chernihiv, Ukraine. He has learned to detect Russian bombs and it is currently estimated that he has detected 90 to 150 explosive devices. This video briefly explains Patron’s story and why dogs are so good at detecting specific smells. A brief explanation on how to train a dog to detect specific scents is given and a description of a dog’s nose capabilities is also offered. This video compares a dog’s sense of smell to a human’s.
