In dog training, a chin rest behaviour can be a fabulous foundation for many other behaviours, especially physical and medical checks. In this video we explain step by step how to teach your dog to do a chin rest behaviour all voluntarily and stress free. If you know how to teach your dog a voluntary chin rest behaviour you can use this behaviour as the starting point for eye checks and medications, ear checks and medications, full body checks, grooming and many, many other applications. This way of training offers dogs the opportunity to show if they are uncomfortable with any given behaviour. All they need to do is to lift their head for us to pause. We can then adjust how we go about it.
