We’re in the dead of winter, which means that “summer foundation” situation is not going to match anymore. I learned that the hard way when I pulled out my Pat McGrath Labs Sublime Perfection Foundation in my summer shade (Medium Deep 23) and I was literally golden. So I did what we all have to do: I ordered a winter shade and self-matched to Medium 21, then tested it on camera to see if I actually got it right.
In this video, I apply two pumps (because that’s how I always start) and blend it in with a foundation brush so you can see the difference—one side with foundation and one side without. Medium 21 is described as a medium with neutral olive undertones, and on my skin it’s giving perfected skin in the most calm, skin-like way. This is a serum-based foundation, so a little goes a long way, and it really does feel like skincare. I also talk about why having two foundation shades for the year just makes sense, and why this one is iconic: it was doing the serum-foundation thing before it was even “popular,” and you can still build it up when you need more coverage.
