To reconnect to the internet, repeat the process and select Go Online. But there are a few things you need to know if you want to take your Xbox offline. The initial setup of a new brand new Xbox does require an internet connection. That's because you need to create at least one user profile or you won't be able to finish the Xbox setup. For this it needs to connect to the Xbox servers. Once a profile is created, you can then set the Xbox to offline. And here's what you can do on the Xbox when disconnected from the internet. The most important thing to know is that you will be able to sign into your Xbox profile to play and change local console settings. To play downloaded games, your console has to be assigned as your Home Xbox. In addition, you can only play games that don't require an internet connection. For example, you won't be able to play Fortnite because it can only be played online. However, you won't have any issues playing disc based games. But the fact is, fewer and fewer people own game discs these days.
