In this video I’m checking out the GL.iNet Beryl 7, a WiFi 7 travel VPN router that’s small enough to toss in your bag and forget about—but it punches way above its weight. I walk through what you get in the box, the hardware (MediaTek quad-core 2GHz, 512MB storage/512MB RAM), and why I’m such a big fan of travel routers in general. The big headline is VPN performance: you can hit gigabit-class speeds on WireGuard/OpenVPN, and while most hotels aren’t that fast, it’s nice knowing the router won’t be your bottleneck. I set it up in repeater mode (the way most people will use it), show features like MAC “camouflage” for networks that authenticate devices, and highlight how I keep my own SSID (“Jabber on the go”) so all my devices connect automatically.
