In Zesty Cranberry Sauce, I show you step by step how to make this easy and delicious citrus cranberry sauce. Zesty Cranberry Sauce Ingredients: 12 to 16 oz of fresh or frozen whole cranberries 1 ¼ cups granulated sugar ½ cup orange juice ½ tsp of kosher salt 1 cinnamon stick or 1 tsp of ground cinnamon 1 orange Directions: In a medium sauce pan, combine cranberries, sugar orange juice, salt, and cinnamon. Add 2 tsps. Finely grated orange zest. (Save orange) Turn heat to medium high and bring to a boil. Now reduce heat to a simmer (medium low). Simmer until all the cranberries burst open and sauce thickens. Approximately 10 minutes. Remove the rest of the skin and white pith of orange with a paring knife. Squeeze out any juice into small bowl. Cut up orange into bite size pieces and place in bowl. When your sauce is done, remove your pan from heat. Add orange pieces and the juice from the orange to your sauce. Gently stir the sauce. Now transfer your sauce to a serving bowl and allow to cool completely. Serve room temperature or cold. *Best with a little cool whip or whipped topping on sauce. *You can add chopped pecans to your sauce if you like. The sauce is best when made a day or two before serving. The sauce will keep up to a week in the refrigerator.
