Roselle Limited Edition Holiday Cider (Sorrel) Ingredients • 4 heaping cups frozen whole Roselle (calyx + seed pods) • 3 quarts water • 2 cinnamon sticks (3-4 inch) • 2 tablespoon pure vanilla extract • 2 inches fresh ginger, sliced thin (optional but recommended) • 1 orange (zest and sliced) or ½ cup orange juice • 1 ½-2 cups raw sugar (adjust to taste) • Optional garnish: whole cloves or star anise (1 each, no more) (*I used 1 whole clove in my recipe) Instructions 1. Combine frozen Roselle, water, cinnamon sticks, ginger, and orange zest/slices in a large pot 2. Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce to a simmer for 20-25 minutes. You'll notice the liquid turning deep ruby and aromatic. 3. Remove from heat. Stir in sugar while hot until dissolved 4. Add vanilla and stir gently. 5. Strain through a fine sieve or cloth to remove pods and spices. 6. Taste and adjust: Too tart? Add a touch more sugar or a splash of orange juice. Too sweet? Add a bit of hot water. 7.
