DIY Suet cakes are a great and healthy way to feed birds. Watch for easy step by step instructions for making this simple and nutritious recipe. Your birds will love you for it and you will attract a lot of birds! Suet Cakes for Birds Recipe: Enough for 3 cakes (double or triple recipe if you want several cakes) 1/2 cup of sun flower seeds 1/2 cup of raisins 1/2 cup of peanut butter (best to use all natural) ¾ cup of oatmeal 1 1/4 cups of corn meal 1 ¼ cups of flour ½ cup of lard Melt the lard in the microwave in 30 second bursts until it is completely liquified. (Lard can catch on fire it it develops a hot spot.) Gently add water as needed. *You want this to be a cookie dough consistency. Add remaining ingredients. Place in containers and freeze. You can use a cookie sheet and cover it and freeze it if you don’t have containers. Serve this in a Suet Feeder. Put frozen cakes in the bird feeder. The birds will be so happy!
