TEST VIDEO (2 of 4): Fire Hazard of a 125 kWh energy storage system comprised of Lithium Nickel Manganese Cobalt Oxide batteries. FM researched lithium-ion battery-based energy storage systems (ESS) in an industry collaboration with the Property Insurance Research Group through the National Fire Protection Association's Fire Protection Research Foundation. We conducted all tests in 2018 at the FM Research Campus in Rhode Island, USA. Our testing evaluated the fire hazard potential of an ESS containing lithium nickel manganese cobalt oxide batteries (NMC). The ESS had an overall electrical capacity of 125 kWh, and all batteries were at a state-of-charge of ≥95%. These results may not represent other LFP-based systems.
