In this video I show you my quick “Fast-Fill” method for restoring a chipped mug using Milliput epoxy putty. If you’ve got a favourite cup with an annoying chip, you really don’t need a kiln or a workshop full of kit to make it look presentable again. I take you through the basic approach I use for small losses: prepping the area, mixing and applying the putty, and shaping it so the repair sits flush and looks intentional rather than lumpy. I also want to be very clear about the safety side: Milliput is brilliant for structural restoration, but it’s generally not certified food-safe. That means I reserve it for chips on handles, the outside of the mug, or display pieces. If your chip is right on the rim where your lips touch, you need to treat it differently—and I explain how I’d seal it properly so you’re not leaving a porous, questionable surface where you drink. The goal here is a fast, tidy repair you can sand, paint, and finish for a satisfying before-and-after—without overcomplicating it.
