About This Video

What’s going on cryptocurrency Universe — it’s the Bitcoin Miner here. In this video I’m in the crypto dungeon breaking down the best way to cool single-board computers like the Orange Pi 5, Raspberry Pi, Rock Pi, Banana Pi, and really any “pie” you’ve got on a mining build. I did my testing mainly on the Orange Pi 5 with the newer chip, so use it as a reference point, but the same heatsink/cooler concepts apply across the board. I tested basically every heatsink and cooler I could get my hands on (and yeah… I sent a couple back because they were crap on a cracker). Then I compared results in multiple real-world scenarios: open air, enclosed case, forced-air “tower” setups, and a forced-air chamber concept like a server tunnel where one fan moves air across multiple boards. The big takeaway: what “looks” best isn’t always best. Some of the pronged copper heatsinks everyone assumes will win didn’t do much for me, especially compared to the heavier, thicker copper blocks you see everywhere on Amazon when you put direct airflow on them. For forced-air builds, copper is the way to go — I saw temps as low as the mid-50s °C in some positions, and generally sub-70s were easy. I also learned adhesion matters: thermal paste plus thermal glue around it cooled better than glue alone, but for most miners I’d rather keep it simple and accept solid temps. And one more weird one: heatsinks on RAM/other components didn’t help me in forced air — they actually ran slightly hotter in my testing.
