We’re upgrading the phone mining farm wiring so we can get around 350 cell phones up and running way faster. The old method works, but it’s super time consuming with all the heat shrink and little connectors, and even when you do it clean (Kyle does an excellent job), there’s still room for a bad connection. These new custom barrel jack cables are solid copper, high quality, and the whole point is to streamline the build while cutting down resistance and connection issues. I also give an update on the farm status and the “test box” problem we’ve been fighting—phones freezing or needing restarts every week or two. We think it’s tied to how we’re hardwiring without a diode, so I walk through the basic idea of installing a diode to trick the phone into thinking it still has a battery connected. Every phone can be a little different, but I show the positive/negative orientation, where the BMS connector comes into play, and the general approach so you can apply it to most devices while we test results and dial it in.
