What’s going on Cryptocurrency Universe, it’s The Bitcoin Miner here. In this part of the 125 Orange Pi cluster build, I’m in the crypto mining dungeon at like 3:00 in the morning because I got super lucky on a server rack deal. The final Orange Pi’s showed up, and right when I’m trying to finish this “world’s largest Orange Pi cluster” (125 boards, 1,000+ CPU cores, ~500GB RAM, and around 1000W at full blast in theory), I realized I needed a real way to clean up the chaos—especially with kids around and wires hanging everywhere. I walk through my thought process on rack sizing and why I canceled the first rack idea (I’d lose shelf space and expansion room). I almost bought a new open-frame rack from Amazon, but my nephew Kyle pushed me to check Craigslist/Facebook Marketplace, and that’s where I scored a Net Access N-Type cabinet (N8522B) for $250. The seller kind of “head faked” me using a stock photo with PDUs, so I negotiated down when those weren’t included. I also show how I got this massive cabinet into the garage as a one-man job, why the cable hooks/rails matter for a build this big, and how locking the rack is a huge win for safety and keeping the setup self-contained.
