About This Video

What’s going on cryptocurrency universe, it’s The Bitcoin Miner here. In this video I’m breaking down the real-world heating and cooling side of mining rigs—when air conditioning is worth it, when it’s not, and what you should actually be targeting for temps. The first thing I always look at is where you live and what your weather is doing. If you’re up north and you only see a handful of 90–95°F days, you probably don’t need to overthink it. Traditionally data centers lived around 75–80°F, but more and more we’re seeing that running hardware around 84–85°F is totally fine, and I try to treat ~85°F as my “high” target (with short spikes into the 90–95°F range not being the end of the world). The other big factor is humidity. In a dry desert climate, a swamp cooler can make a lot of sense—not just for cooling, but for adding humidity back into the air to reduce static electricity. I like keeping humidity around 25–30%. Where I’m at in North Carolina, it’s humid, so a traditional refrigerant-based AC system makes more sense. Long term, conditioning your mining room isn’t just comfort—it’s lifespan and resale value. I’ve got conditioned rigs running clean for 3–4 years 24/7, and I’ve seen unconditioned hardware burn out in about two. If you’re playing the long game, this is one of those upgrades that pays you back.
