Happy 2022—this is my house mining tour and a full recap of what I’m still running: Chia hard drive farming, CPU mining Verus, and GPU mining (Ethereum at the time) plus how I’m thinking about power, heat, and efficiency. I’m just a guy in the garage that started by putting a gaming PC to work, and seven years later I’m still focused on building real-world setups that can run at home without blowing up your power panel. I walk through my Chia farm (about 1.1PB / just under 11,000 plots) running across four harvesters to a main node, and I show how I use wattage stability as a quick “are my drives alive?” health check—this whole Chia setup sits around 575W. On the CPU side, I show my Black Friday triple-system box with multiple Ryzen chips tuned for efficiency (around 130–150W each) mining Verus, and I explain why I like CPU/ARM mining for efficiency (including the plan to add cell phones). Then we go downstairs to my “mining box” tied into my HVAC return—this is how I’ve basically not paid for heat in years: control the air, capture the byproduct heat, and feed it back into the house. I also touch on why I prefer planning over chasing, why entry point matters (especially with Chia), and why I’m always watching power costs, 240V vs 110V, and the next market cycle/halving when I’m deciding what hardware and infrastructure to build.
