You got to love a Threadripper it's done great over the last few years it's been mining Verus most of the time and I use it as a VR system as well from time to time. Unfortunately I have neglected her lately and the green monster has attacked. Hang out with me as I figure out how to clean this bad boy and get her back up and running. About This Video

In this video I’m dealing with the “green monster” that showed up in my Threadripper 3990X loop after I neglected it a little too long. This rig has been a beast for years mining Verus (and I even use it as a VR system sometimes), but after about three years and only topping off cryo fuel a few times, the coolant started tinting and then went bad fast—especially once the system wasn’t staying hot from constant mining. I walk through tearing the loop down, keeping the liquid cooling system independent from the case so I’m not risking fluid inside the PC, and figuring out the cleanest way to drain and flush everything. I run a 50/50 mix of white distilled vinegar and water through a simplified loop (pump + CPU block first, radiator later) to loosen the gunk without pushing junk into places it can get stuck. You’ll see just how nasty the buildup gets inside the CPU block and fittings, why I ended up replacing the hoses, and how I flushed the radiator until it stopped coming out green. Biggest takeaways: don’t let coolant sit for years, be careful about trapped water (I literally blow it out with a duster can before reinstalling), and always leak test before powering the board—because that “moment of truth” is real.
