In this video I’m comparing real-world mining profitability and I came to a conclusion that surprised even me: right now, CPU mining can be more profitable than GPU mining dollar for dollar. I pulled up profitability numbers using 10 cents per kWh and compared a Ryzen 3950X/5950X class CPU against popular GPUs in a similar price range. When you look at daily profit, some of these GPUs like a 5600 XT, A2000, or even a 6600 XT are coming in lower than the CPU—while the CPU is also easier to actually buy in stock. Then I take it a step further and talk about Verus (VRSC), because the network setup matters. Verus is 50/50 proof-of-stake and proof-of-work, so the coins I mine can also be staked for additional passive income (around 10%, fluctuates). On top of that, there are extra network rewards that most calculators don’t account for—like ID purchase fees that can add another ~8–10% on average, with occasional bigger “lottery” style rewards. And if you really want to talk efficiency per dollar, I explain why cell phone mining can beat CPU mining too, but it comes with caveats like managing more devices and maintenance.
