In this video I’m walking you through the Windows setup side of my Chia plotting & farming PC build—Part 2 of the guide—so you can go from a fresh rig to actually plotting without the usual headaches. I start in BIOS with the basic settings I do on pretty much any mining rig: enable the RAM’s DOCP/XMP profile so the kit runs at its rated speed (in my case 3600), and I also recommend setting your board to automatically power back on after a power loss so your farm doesn’t just sit there dead if the power blips. Once Windows is up, I go straight into the settings that matter for plotting stability: update the machine, then pause updates as long as possible so you don’t get interrupted mid-plot. I set the power plan to High Performance, make sure hard drives never spin down (set “turn off hard disk” to 0 minutes), disable sleep/hibernate, and set max processor state to 100%. After that, I show you Disk Management—initializing drives and creating a striped volume for your temp drive (I like using drive letter T because my .bat files are built around that). I also share a real-world problem I ran into with Intel DC drives that wouldn’t initialize—likely OEM/locked to certain systems—so you can save time when buying used. And if you’ve got leftover CPU headroom while plotting, I show how I download the Verus CPU miner specifically because it runs low priority, letting plotting stay in control.
