About This Video

What’s going on cryptocurrency Universe — it’s the Bitcoin Miner here. In this update I’m back in Kyle’s dungeon at the 350 cell phone mining farm after about two weeks, and I’m showing you where we’re at right now and what we’ve changed to keep this thing stable. We’ve got the software updated and we’re sitting at 113 active workers, pushing right around 450 MH total, with each phone averaging about 4 MH. I also jump into one of the boxes on the dashboard — that single box is running 45 active workers at about 180 MH, averaging 4.1 MH per phone. The big takeaway in this video is the wiring distribution upgrade, because we were fighting voltage drop as we kept adding more phones. The power supplies were capable, but the way we were feeding the rails wasn’t ideal. We moved to a main rail coming off the PSU, then feeding smaller distribution rails, and the key fix was upgrading the run from the PSU to the distribution point from 12 gauge stranded to 10 gauge stranded. That solved the voltage drop for us, and from there you can step down (10 to 12) as needed — I just wouldn’t go too small unless you’re feeding straight to the phones. I also show you how we’re tracking battery temps (since we can’t read CPU temps like on Pi clusters) to keep everything running clean and safe as we scale toward the full 350 phones.
