In this update I’m walking you through my Chia “mining wall” that’s been running for almost two and a half years now, just chugging away. I’m sitting a little over 1 PB (should be closer to 1.1 PB, but I’ve definitely got at least one dead drive in the mix), and we’re about seven months out from the first Chia halving where the block reward drops from 2 XCH to 1 XCH. On my side, this whole setup pulls right at about 900 watts total for four banks and four computers (two harvesters and a mother), and it’s still pretty manageable heat-wise in the garage. Finally, I break down what it’s earning: around 10,706 plots active, roughly $270/month (about $9/day), on a build that cost me about $26K.
