Join me in the shop for the latest update on Ol' Tex, a budget guitar project built from a Fojill FTLR-50 that I picked up for $102. In this video, we're tackling two essential DIY tasks: reshaping the headstock and shielding the body cavities. First, we head to the spindle sander to fix the headstock profile. While there isn't quite enough wood for a perfect Telecaster curve, we get it as close as possible before finishing it with some Gunstock 231 stain. Then, I walk through the process of shielding the body using Rustin’s G-Shield paint. I’ll show you why stirring the paint is the most important step, how to use copper tape to bridge the cavities for better continuity, and why I’m trying this method over traditional tape. Whether you're a beginner or just here for the shop talk, this video is about the journey of getting better, one project at a time. Grab a Diet Coke and some popcorn, and let's get into it.
