The Gretsch Streamliner Jr was still going out of tune even after upgrading to new locking tuners. So instead of guessing, we decided to troubleshoot the problem step by step. In this video we walk through a real-world tuning instability diagnosis including tuner replacement, fret work, setup adjustments, pickup height, intonation, nut slot inspection, lubrication, and more to figure out what was actually causing the guitar to drift out of tune. Along the way we also tackle sharp fret ends, level and crown frets, evaluate nut slot depth and width, and follow the TRAPIN setup process: Tune, Relief, Action, Pickup Height, Intonation, and Nut. Sometimes tuning instability is not what we first assume it is.
