About This Video

In this live stream I unbox the TicWatch Pro 3 GPS and give you my first real look at what’s coming in an upcoming full review. I also lay out the big caveat up front: if you’re on iPhone, you’re almost always going to get the best smartwatch experience with an Apple Watch because Apple and Google still don’t play nicely together. This TicWatch makes the most sense for Android users who want a full Wear OS smartwatch, and a lot of you specifically asked how it stacks up against my Apple Watch Series 6. I walk through the key specs that matter for everyday use and fitness: Snapdragon Wear 4100, “up to 72 hours” in smart mode, and up to 45 days in Essential Mode (which, as I understand it, is basically just telling time). I’m also interested in the health sensors here—optical heart rate, sleep tracking, “stress” (HRV-style), and SpO2—and I explain exactly how I plan to test them, including comparisons against Apple Watch and a medical device, plus HRV comparisons using my Oura Ring. Hardware-wise, it’s a good-looking watch with a streamlined body, dual-display concept, two physical buttons, speaker/mic, quick-release bands, and a strong magnetic charger. It gives a premium first impression even though it’s mostly plastic, and I’m excited to see if the refinements are more than cosmetic once I put it through workouts.
